Commercial Conversion & Fit Out

SB4 Construction were appointed to deliver the full conversion and fit out of The Goat Restaurant, transforming what was previously a breakfast reception area and small bar into a high-quality, fully operational restaurant. The project required a complete reconfiguration of the existing space, combining careful structural intervention with a high-specification fit out to create a result that has proven to be a real commercial success for the client.

The Project Team

This project was delivered in collaboration with a talented and experienced design team. BR Architecture led the architectural design, bringing a clear vision and technical rigour to what was a complex conversion project, whilst Design House Wales were responsible for the interior design — creating a considered, stylish interior scheme that sets the tone for the dining experience within. The close working relationship between SB4, BR Architecture, and Design House Wales throughout the project was integral to achieving the finished result.

Structural Works & Temporary Works

This was far from a straightforward conversion. The existing layout required significant structural alterations to open up and reconfigure the space, with the added complexity of four storeys of the building sitting directly above. A comprehensive temporary works scheme was designed and installed to safely prop and support the structure throughout the works — ensuring the integrity of the building was maintained at all times and that the floors above remained fully protected during what was a technically demanding construction phase.

This level of structural complexity required careful planning, precise execution, and close coordination between our site team and the wider design team — all of which SB4 delivered without disruption to the surrounding areas of what remained an operational building.

Kitchen & Interior Fit Out

At the heart of the restaurant is a large, top of the range commercial kitchen installation, specified to meet the demands of a busy, high-quality food operation. Alongside the kitchen, the full interior fit out was completed to the vision crafted by Design House Wales, creating an inviting and well-considered space that reflects the quality of the offering within.

A Platform for Further Success

The success of The Goat Restaurant speaks for itself — and so does the client’s response to SB4’s performance on the project. On the strength of our delivery, SB4 have subsequently been awarded the next phase of works at the property, comprising the refurbishment and extension of 47 bedrooms. It is a testament to the relationship built during the restaurant project, and the confidence the client has placed in SB4, BR Architecture, and Design House Wales to deliver the next chapter of this exciting development together.
