Technologies & Project Types

Our experience covers a range of renewable energy technologies and project types, from commercial roof-mounted solar PV systems of approximately 60 kW to 400 kW through to larger ground-mounted schemes, including 500 kW solar farms and a completed 2 MW solar farm in Shropshire. We also work with commercial battery storage, assessing how storage can complement solar generation and support a wider energy strategy rather than treating it as an isolated product. Where appropriate, we can also explore aggregation and microgrid-style strategies, coordinating generation, storage and energy release across connected assets through intelligent controls to maximise value. Alongside solar and storage, SB4 has project experience in integrated renewable facilities, including buildings and infrastructure for biomass and combined heat and power facilities, new-build energy centres and the reinstatement of specialist facilities following major damage.

A Clear Route From Information To Installation

Our approach is designed to make renewable energy projects straightforward and commercially focused. We take the time to understand the opportunity, test the feasibility and build a clear case for investment before coordinating the design and delivery. From initial assessment through to installation and handover, we manage the process with a focus on performance, value and long-term practicality.

Initial consultation. We establish what the client wants to achieve, the site or building involved and the reasons for considering renewable energy.

Information and feasibility. We ask the specific questions needed to understand the opportunity, assemble the relevant site and energy information and review which approach is appropriate.

System and performance case. We develop the proposed system around the evidence, checking that its expected performance and return on investment align with the client’s objectives.

Design and programme. The technical design, lead times, procurement, project responsibilities and installation programme are coordinated before delivery begins.

Managed installation. We apply the same management standards used across our construction projects, coordinating the site, specialists, quality, safety and progress against the agreed programme.

Completion and handover. The installed system is completed and handed over with the information needed for the client to understand what has been delivered.

Our renewable team brings more than 17 years of solar industry experience. They combine technical understanding with the planning, coordination and management standards of a main contractor. That combination is important. Renewable projects depend on more than the equipment itself: information, interfaces, lead times, civils, specialist installation, safety, commissioning and handover all need to be managed as one programme.
